Cruise Control

Jul 28, '09 4:04 PM
for everyone
Having just driven to Florida and back, I have a couple observations.

Some, but relatively few, people should be required to have and use cruise control (especially that Illinois guy in the purple Chevy HHR who kept zooming past me, only to [I assume] get distracted {"Oooh, a cow!"} and fall back). I'm choosing to believe the clowns who dawdle and then speed up as you start to pass are driven by subconscious primal competitive drives and aren't just jerks, but, hey, I look for the best in people.

However, an even larger number should be pulled over and have their cruise controls super-glued into the "Off" position. These drivers from the planet Oblivion seem to think that once they set their speed they not only don't have to worry about how fast they're going, but also can ignore everyone else on the highway. They seem to think that because they're going 0.25 mph faster than the car they're passing that it's fine to stack up 63 cars and 4 trucks behind them while they take an hour to overtake their quarry.
